BCCI Secretary Jay Shah’s term as Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has been extended for another year. He will now remain the president of the ACC until 2024. This decision has been made at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the ACC. This meeting took place in Colombo on Saturday.

Shah was appointed to the post in January last year. Before him, Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Najmul Hasan held this position. This time, the proposal to extend Shah’s term was put forward by Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Shammi Silva, which was unanimously supported by all ACC members.

Addressing the ACC meeting on Saturday, Shah said: “ACC’s focus is to promote the development of the game in this region (Asia). We are committed to the development of cricket in this region in all aspects. We are dedicated to making a pioneering work, especially in the field of women’s cricket and in all the grassroots tournaments that the ACC organizes throughout the year.

Shah also thanked everyone at the AGM for extending his term. He said: ‘I want to thank all my respected colleagues at the ACC for believing in me and deeming me worthy to complete all the work started by the ACC.’
