Real Zaragoza Signs Iván Calero to Strengthen Right Side
Real Zaragoza has completed its fifth signing of the season, securing the services of Iván Calero, a 29-year-old defender. Calero arrives at the club to bolster the right side, which has been weakened by the departures of Fran Gámez, Zedadka, and Mouriño.
The Spanish team has paid Cartagena a transfer fee of approximately half a million euros to obtain Calero’s services. The player has previously had a successful stint at Cartagena, helping the team avoid relegation and achieve a strong second half of the season.
Calero has extensive experience in Spanish football, having played for several clubs including Elche, Salamanca, Numancia, Málaga, Alcorcón, and Cartagena. He has also spent time in England with Derby County and Burton Albion, as well as in Holland with Sparta Rotterdam. After leaving Atlético’s youth system, Calero has established himself as a reliable defender, and is now seeking greater stability at Real Zaragoza.
With Calero’s arrival, Real Zaragoza now has the theoretical starters on both sides, following the previous signing of Tasende. The club has also brought in Joan Femenias, Mario Soberon, and Gori Gracia this summer. In the coming hours, Real Zaragoza is expected to announce its sixth reinforcement, with Samed Bazdar, a forward tied to Partizan, set to join the team for a fee of close to two million euros.
