Tel Aviv: Israel threatens to attack Lebanon in Middle East
Speaking at a memorial service marking the 40th anniversary of the first war with Lebanon, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gentz said “if there is a threat to the Israeli people, we are ready for war against Lebanon.” And the world will once again see our troops marching on the streets of Beirut, Sidon and Tire.
“We are ready to inflict heavy losses on Hezbollah by re-besieging Lebanon in the event of any threat,” he said.
“Lebanon should remember the war fought on June 6, 1982, when our forces reached Beirut,” he said.
Tensions between the two countries have risen sharply since the Hezbollah leader’s statement, with the Hezbollah leader saying on the Israeli plan to extract gas from reserves in disputed waters that his organization The project is capable of stopping by force.
It should be noted that the conflict between Israel and Lebanon is decades old and there have been wars between the two countries even before that. There was also a war between the two countries in 2006.
