Israel Politics: Israel’s caretaker Prime Minister Yair Lapid chaired the first cabinet meeting on Sunday after taking office. The meeting assured a working government despite the ongoing political instability in the country. Significantly, due to political instability in Israel, elections are going to be held for the fifth time in four years. At the meeting, Lapid sat next to former prime minister Naftali Bennett. He warned that Israel would take any step to protect itself. Before Lapid’s statement, Israel shot down three Predator planes of Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah.

Became the 14th Prime Minister of Israel

Lapid took over as prime minister last week under a coalition government formed after last year’s agreement. At first Bennett led the government but had to step down with several lawmakers leaving and for other reasons. This led to the dissolution of Parliament itself, necessitating a fresh election and the transfer of power to Lapid. Re-elections will be held in Israel on November 1. Lapid said that in the coming months, our goal will be to run the government in such a way that it does not start campaigning. The citizens of Israel deserve a working government.
