ISIS claims responsibility for Kandahar mosque bombings

KABUL: ISIL has claimed responsibility for a series of suicide bombings at a mosque in southern Kandahar province that killed at least 63 people.

The death toll from Friday’s suicide bombings at a mosque in the Afghan city of Kandahar has risen to 63, with 90 others injured, according to details.

Afghan media say the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has claimed responsibility for mosque suicide bombings, saying in a statement that two ISIS fighters shot dead mosque guards and later broke into worshipers. Kar blew himself up.

Last Friday, a bomb blast inside a mosque during Friday prayers in the Afghan city of Kunduz killed at least 50 people and injured 100 others. ISIS claimed responsibility for the blast.
