Iran’s attack on Israel with drones and missiles, live: reactions and last minute of the conflict

The residents of Jerusalem reiterated this Sunday that Iran’s night attack with drones and missiles was “terrifying” but that they had confidence in their country’s defense system. Meanwhile, the G7 leaders will hold a video conference this Sunday afternoon “to discuss the Iranian attack on Israel,” announced the Italian government, which currently chairs the group of major Western powers.

“The Italian Presidency of the G7 convened a video conference of heads of state and government today, early this afternoon,” the Italian executive said in a brief statement. The G7 consists of Italy, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan.

The meeting was urgently called after Iran launched a night attack with more than 200 drones and missiles against Israel in response to a bombing at its consulate in Damascus on April 1. According to the Israeli military, the unprecedented Iranian attack was “thwarted.”

The UN Security Council is also planning a meeting this Sunday following the attack, which prompted UN Secretary-General António Guterres to condemn “a serious escalation”.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reported that the country’s air force managed to shoot down “several” Iranian drones in the attack.
