However, he did not make any detailed comment in this regard. President Raisi left for New York with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahiyan and nuclear deal negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani. Negotiations on the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and other world powers have long been stalled.
Significantly, Iran is moving closer to Russia. Iran’s counterpart had also met with Putin in the past. At the same time, Putin is using drones made by Iran in the war with Ukraine. Just a few days ago, Putin met Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and also promised to send a major business delegation to Iran.
Putin wants to make Iran a permanent member of SCO summit
Putin also promised to do everything possible to make Iran a full-time member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This political and security alliance includes Russia, China, Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Russia has been isolated from the West since its attack on Ukraine, prompting it to improve its cooperation with autocratic countries, especially North Korea and Iran. China could also be involved in this alliance and this could pose a real threat to Western countries in the coming years.
