An Iranian drone strike on Wednesday against the bases of an Iranian-Kurdish opposition group in northern Iraq left at least 13 dead and 32 wounded, Kurdish authorities said.
The attack occurs as protests continue over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman, after being detained by the Iranian morality police.
The attack was in Koya, about 60 kilometers (35 miles) east of Irbil, said Soran Nuri, a member of the Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), an armed opposition group banned in Iran.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry and the Kurdish regional government condemned the actions.
The Iranian state news agency IRNA reported that the Revolutionary Guards attacked bases of a separatist group in northern Iraq with “precision missiles” and “suicide drones.”
