India: Terrible fire in a residential building, deaths

A fire broke out in a 19-storey building in the Indian city of Mumbai on Saturday, killing six people and injuring 15 others.

The fire of the residents of the affected building started on the 15th floor of the building and as soon as they saw it, black smoke engulfed the entire building.

He said more than 90 people were able to get out of the building on their own or with the help of neighbors.

City government spokesman Ganesh Parnaik said the blaze killed six people and injured 15 others who were taken to hospital, where the condition of four injured is said to be critical.

According to media reports, the fire in the building was brought under control by about 2 dozen fire brigade vehicles after several hours of efforts.

According to a foreign news agency, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednikar said that the fire started due to a short circuit in an apartment.

According to Padniker, some of the injured needed oxygen because the smoke went up while they were breathing.
