With this announcement from the BCCI, Bumrah has now become the second fast bowler to captain India in the Tests. Before him, the great Kapil Dev had managed the team in 1987. That is, after 35 years, Bumrah has become the second bowler to achieve this feat.

Not only this, this is the first time in the history of Indian cricket that more than five captains will lead a team in a calendar year. In 1959, five players captained India. This year Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya have already taken charge of the Indian team and now Bumrah will be the captain at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Rahul said there are 36 hours left and if Rohit’s Covid-19 test report comes back negative then he will be available for selection in the test to be played in Edgbaston.

He also hit in the first innings during this period, but in the second innings he didn’t come out to bat because he tested positive for Covid-19 and then went into isolation.
