IND vs AUS ODI: Can Sanju Samson have a chance in place of Iyer in the ODI series? Learn

In the fourth test match that was played between India and Australia, there was bad news for the India team in the form of Shreyas Iyer. On the night of the third day of the game, Iyer complained of his back pain and then couldn’t bat in the first innings. He didn’t even come for it. At the same time, Iyer may be out of the ODI series against Australia from March 17. In such a situation, Sanju Samson can be included in the ODI team in his place.

Sanju Samson can make the squad in place of Shreyas Iyer in all three ODI series against Australia. Sanju played the last ODI of his in November 2022 against New Zealand. In such a situation, Sanju can be added to the team as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer. Sunj has played a total of 11 ODIs so far, in which he has scored 330 runs at an average of 66 while batting. In this, he has scored 2 half centuries. At the same time, his highest score has been 86* runs.

According to the InsideSport report, the selection committee headed by Shiv Sundar Das might hold a meeting on Iyer’s replacement after the Ahmedabad test. Shreyas Iyer was sent for a scan after the pain, which he reports is a recurrence of his back injury. In such a situation, BCCI does not want to take any risk with respect to them.

A senior BCCI official while speaking to Insaisport said: “It is certainly disappointing and this is not the first time a player has had a recurring injury. We should have learned from Bumrah but we didn’t. Shreyas should have been included in the squad and should not have been in a hurry to play Test cricket. Let’s hope he gets fit for the ODI series. But it would be hard to say anything at this point. He had scans and is currently under the supervision of the medical team.
