Australia last won a Test series in India in 2004.

Australia have suffered many major setbacks in the first test match to be played in Nagpur. Many players on the team have been ruled out of this series due to their respective injuries. At this, fast pitchers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were already out. Following this, the team’s all-round star Cameron Green has also been ruled out of this test match. Regarding Green, Smith said he is not likely to play in the first test match.

It is worth mentioning that in early 2008, the teams of India and Australia played test matches at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur. In that match, the Indian team won by 172 runs. This was the first Test match played at this ground, a total of 6 Test matches have been played here since then.
