On May 31, amid tight security, Sidhu’s body was taken to his home in Musa village and his last rites were performed on that day. Sidhu’s last burnings took place at Mansa’s Baharli grain market. Sidhu was shot dead on May 29 by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district in Punjab. The incident occurred a day after the Punjab Police removed the security of another 424 people. Earlier, Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi arrived at the home of former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot Sidhu and expressed his regret as he met with the singer’s family.

Punjab police said on Tuesday that they have arrested eight people so far in connection with the murder. Police said they were arrested for providing logistical support, conducting reconnaissance and harboring the singer’s shooters. Police also said they have identified four shooters who were involved in the crime. The arrested persons have been identified as Sandeep Singh alias Kekra, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana. Manpreet Singh aka Manna from Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda; and Manpreet Bhau from Dhaipai, Faridkot.
