Bangkok: 34 people, including 23 children, were killed in a shooting at a childcare center in Thailand.
According to details, a former police officer in Thailand stormed a child day care center, killing at least 34 people, mostly children, before killing himself and his family.
This sad incident happened on Thursday in the northern province of Nong Bua Lamphu, according to the police, the attacker shot his wife and child and also shot himself.
The attacker is a former police officer who was fired for drug use. The Prime Minister of Thailand strongly condemned the incident and described it as horrific.
According to foreign media reports, the attacker, armed with a shotgun, pistol and a knife, opened fire on children and adults at the daycare center, and then fled the scene in a pickup truck. An eyewitness said that the assailant had entered a closed room where the children were sleeping at that time.
According to the provincial police, after the attack, the assailant went home and killed himself, his wife and child.
The assailant has been identified as 34-year-old former police officer Paniya Khamrab, who was dismissed from the force last year for drug abuse.
