IBEX 35 Weekly Data Highlights

Spain’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the first quarter, preliminary inflation data from Europe and France, and Germany’s IFO survey will set the pace for the IBEX 35 next week.

At the start of the week, investors will focus on Germany’s IFO business confidence survey for June.

On Tuesday, the final reading of Spain’s GDP for the first quarter and the producer price index (PPI) will be known, and a two-year public debt auction will be held in Germany.

On Wednesday, the Gfk consumer climate index in Germany for July, consumer confidence in France, job seekers in this country, and the Treasury Gilt auction in the United Kingdom will be known. This will coincide with a debt auction in Italy for 6 months.

On Thursday, retail sales in Spain for May, business confidence in the latter country, Italy for June, the PPI of Italy, and the confidence of companies and consumers in the euro zone for this month will be known. Italy will also auction its debt at 5 and 10 years, and the Eurogroup meeting will take place.

On Friday, the preliminary CPI in Europe, including Spain, Italy, and France, as well as the PPI in the latter country, will be published. Also, retail sales in Italy and Germany for May, and German unemployment for June, will be known.

In the US, the week will begin with the holding of 3- and 6-month public debt auction, and an appearance by Mary Daly, member of the Federal Reserve (Fed).

On Tuesday, the US will publish the national activity of the Chicago Fed for May, the Redbook retail sales index, and the housing price index for April. The Richmond services sector index for June will also be published.

On Wednesday, the MBA mortgage application index, May new home sales, and construction permits will be published.

Towards the end of the week, notable US references include the results of the Fed’s banking stress test, the renewals of unemployment benefits, durable goods orders, pending home sales for May, and auctions of 4-week and 7-year debt, and 8-week bonds.

The quarterly GDP for the US will also be published on Friday. Additionally, the personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index, the University of Michigan consumer confidence for June, and the Fed’s monetary policy report will be released.

In the Asia-Pacific region, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) will release its underlying CPI on Tuesday, and the purchases of foreign bonds on Thursday. On Friday, the June CPI, the unemployment rate, and industrial production will be known.

In China, the May industrial profit will be published on Thursday.
