this is a smartphone cousinespecially in the Huawei P50 Pocket Premium Edition, which differs in texture and finish from the glass and metal exterior, the result of a collaboration between the Chinese manufacturer and haute couture designer Iris Van Herpen.

Huawei launches its new folding smartphone also in Portugal

According to Huawei, this is the smartphone designed to allow consumers to explore the intersection of technological aesthetics and smart photography. Thus the Huawei P50 Pocket was born with a new standard in industrial design for smartphones.

More specifically, in this special edition, Huawei joined forces with prominent haute couture designer Iris Van Herpen in a cross-industry collaboration, and the Huawei P50 Pocket Premium Edition was born.

We inform potential consumers of the start of the Huawei P50 Pocket pre-purchase campaign from tomorrow (January 27) until February 9. Under this campaign they have the offer of Huawei Freebuds Lipstick wireless headphones (€249.99) during the campaign period.

We also remind you that the new Huawei P50 Pocket has a recommended price of €1,699.99 and hits stores on February 10.

The main features of the Huawei P50 Pocket

Huawei’s thinnest foldable smartphone

The Huawei P50 Pocket also adopts the characteristic double ring design of the Huawei P50 series range. Here, with a ring that contains the camera module and another with the outer smart screen.

In this way, the new Huawei flagship folds perfectly into a slimmer and lighter body. The highlight goes to the inner screen which, when opened, offers a pixel density of 442 ppi.

This display supports up to 120Hz refresh rate as well as 300Hz touch sampling rate. In addition, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming support ensures increased eye protection.

We also highlight the new generation of Multi-Dimensional Hinges, a complete upgrade from its predecessor, with an even shorter radius.

Also worth mentioning is the use of innovative materials, such as zirconium-based liquid metal and high-strength steel. Elements that are also used to build the hinge system, further improving the reliability and durability of this element.

The processor is Snapdragon 888 4G from Qualcomm

Banned by US restrictions, Huawei cannot use modems 5G in the processors of your mobile. Thus, the processor used is a special version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, the top of the range for 2021.

So we have a chip eight cores with 5nm lithography and access to 4G (LTE) networks, effectively deprived of fifth-generation mobile networks outside of China. Still, we have no doubt that its performance is excellent.

On the other hand, it is a smartphone without access to Google services, which uses Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.0 system, with the EMUI 12 interface applied in Europe.

The Huawei P50 Pocket is the new rival of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Huawei’s new smartphone also stands out for its cameras. Now we have the Ultra-Spectrum Camera Matrix, Huawei’s latest product that stems from the quest for better camera technology.

It includes a 40MP True-Chroma camera, a 13MP Ultra Wide camera, a 32MP Ultra Spectrum camera, a 10-channel Multi-Spectrum sensor, and an Ultra Spectrum illuminator.

Please note that the Ultra Spectrum camera is integrated into the Huawei XD Fusion Pro imaging engine to provide images with greater depth and layers in the frame for a better shooting experience.

As a curiosity, the Huawei P50 Pocket introduces sunscreen application detection. This mode accessible through the Mirror app can identify the application of sunscreen on the skin. This is to help users verify that the entire skin surface has been protected to prevent sunburn.

In short, we have a new luxury folding smartphone arriving on the Portuguese market on February 10. It’s a style statement, with cutting-edge technology, but with the now-familiar limitations of Huawei smartphones in the face of the US lockdown.
