Houthis attack Israeli town and US ship with missiles in Red Sea

Yemen’s Houthi rebels attacked several targets in the city of Eilat in southern Israel with rockets on Tuesday, as well as a US ship traveling in the Red Sea.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sari made the announcement in a message posted on his social network account although Israeli authorities have not yet reported the attack.

He also pointed out that the “Houthi naval forces have carried out an operation against a US ship“, the ‘Mado’. “Several missiles were fired at the ship”has explained.

The ship sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands. Sari claimed responsibility for these attacks, stressing that they were a response to the “oppression of the Palestinian people and British-American aggression” against Yemen.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of Allah, continue to fulfill their religious, moral and humanitarian duty to the oppressed Palestinian people.” Their actions will not stop until the people of Gaza are freed“, he emphasized.

On Monday, the Israeli government reported the entry of a “suspicious air object” into Israeli airspace from the Red Sea, which struck open space north of Eilat.
