Host IPL 2022: Cricket South Africa proposes to host IPL 2022

These can be the captains of the IPL teams, 8 out of 10 are decided! Who will take command of RCB?

The BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) is considering different options for the venue of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has submitted a proposal to the BCCI to organize the league in their country. At the same time, he has gone so far as to say that hosting the league in his country will be a cheaper option than the tournament held in the United Arab Emirates last year.

According to available information, talks are taking place between BCCI and CSA. In the debates, special importance is being given to those venues that are close and that require less travel time. This will save additional costs and air travel time. Along with this, hotel expenses will also be lower in South Africa than in the United Arab Emirates, where the teams had to pay a considerable amount due to the Dubai Expo last year.

The CSA plan mentions four locations around Johannesburg. In which the maximum number of games is proposed for the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, where all the teams will enter their biobubble. The proposed names are Pretoria’s Centurion Park, Benoni’s Willomoor Park and Potchefstroom’s Senwes Cricket Stadium together with the capital city. These four international fields are located within walking distance of each other, so all teams will be able to base themselves in Johannesburg.

Let us tell you that with the addition of the Lucknow and Ahmedabad teams, there will be a total of 10 teams playing in the IPL this time. Among which 74 games will be played, which will be more than 60 games played last season.

CSA has included in its offer the name of Newlands Stadium in Cape Town and the nearby Paarl ground. Where four of the 6 matches (one Test and three ODIs) of the recently concluded India-South Africa series (IND vs SA Series) have been played. Under this proposal, the teams will set up their camps in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

It should be noted that in the year 2009 the second IPL season was organized in South Africa. CSA had organized the league in 8 different locations across the country at the time due to difficulties such as Bio Bubble or Kovid-19.

However, BCCI and CSA officials have not commented on this for the time being. But in the discussions, figures from Omicron in South Africa are also taken into account.
