His son has played a role in making Dravid the head coach, Ganguly revealed.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly recently revealed in an interview that his son also played a role in making Rahul Dravid the head coach of the India team. He revealed how Rahul Dravid’s son influenced him to get his strict father involved in the Indian cricket team. However, Ganguly made this revelation in a lighthearted way.

On Dravid’s appointment as head coach of India, Ganguly said: “I got a call from Dravid’s son saying that his father is being too strict with him and that he should be brought along.” That’s when I called Rahul (Dravid) and told him it was time for him to join the national team.

Ganguly said we grew up together, our career started around the same time, and we spent most of our time playing together. So it was easy for some of us to welcome him. At first, Rahul Dravid was adamant about not becoming the coach, as he was working with the players of the future. Dravid hails from Bangalore and, as the head coach of the NCA, he was also able to spend time with his family.

Let us tell you that Rahul Dravid’s son, Samit Dravid, is also a young cricketer. Last year he scored a double century in U-14 school cricket. Sourav Ganguly and BCCI secretary Jay Shah had a lot of convincing Rahul Dravid to make him coach of Team India.

Dravid is now associated with the India team as a full-time head coach. His first series as a manager will begin against New Zealand on November 17. He has signed an agreement with BCCI until 2023. His salary will be Rs 10 million plus a bonus. Dravid has been the coach of Team India even before this. He was the coach of Team India, who traveled to Sri Lanka this year. Under his training, Team India has captured the ODI series.
