With the victory of Pakistan, the Muslim bowler of the Indian cricket team Muhammad Shami started being targeted by the Hindu extremists and he was declared a Pakistani spy.

Several personalities, including Indian journalist Barkha Dutt, former bowler Irfan Pathan and legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, have come out in defense to launch a hate campaign against Muhammad Shami on social media.

In a statement on micro-blogging site Twitter, Sachin Tendulkar said, “When we support Team India, every player who represents it is contradictory.”

Sachin Tendulkar said that Mohammad Shami is a very talented and world class bowler.

Defending Muhammad Shami in his tweet, Irfan Pathan said, “We have also been a part of the Pak-India war, where we were defeated but we were never told to go to Pakistan!” I am talking about India a few years ago.

Irfan Pathan said that “now this abuse against Muhammad Shami should be stopped”.

Former Indian cricketer Sehwag defended the Muslim cricketer, saying “online attacks on Mohammad Shami have stunned him”.

Calling Mohammad Shami the champion, he said, “Whoever wears an Indian cape has more India in his heart than online critics.”

Encouraging Mohammad Shami, Sehwag said, “We are with you, show Jalwa in the next match, Shami.”
