Hindu extremists demand renaming of roads attributed to Mughal kings

New Delhi: Extremism is on the rise in India, with the unbridled BJP giving an ultimatum to the Delhi government to rename roads attributed to Mughal kings.

According to Indian media reports, Bharatiya Janata Party central leader Adish Gupta has written a letter to NDMC demanding renaming of Tughlaq Road, Akbar Road, Aurangzeb Lane, Humayun Road and Shahjahan Road.

The extremist leader said that these are the roads which symbolize Muslim slavery which should be renamed immediately. He also suggested that the name of Tughlaq Road be changed to Guru Gobind Singh Marg, Akbar Road to Maharana Pratap Road. Aurangzeb Lane should be renamed as Abdul Kalam Lane, Humayun Road should be renamed as Maharshi Valmiki Road and Shahjahan Road should be renamed as General Bipin Singh Rawat Road.

He also suggested that Babar Lane should be named after the freedom fighter Khudi Ram Bose.

Not only that, Hindu extremists have taken a stand against naming the famous Qutb Minar in New Delhi, about two dozen activists of Hindutva organizations not only recited Hanuman Chalisa near Qutb Minar, but also changed the name of Qutb Minar to ‘Vishnu’. He also demanded to do istambh.

Demonstrators chanted slogans and chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the occasion, saying it was a place of Sanatan religion and would remain Sanatan religion. It was renamed Qutb Minar.
