Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that the bodies of four hostages held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, will be delivered to Israel on Thursday. Additionally, Jalil Al Hague, the chief negotiator of Hamas, announced that six Israeli hostages will be released on Saturday. This development comes as part of the ongoing negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement.
The decision to release the hostages was made by the movement and resistance, with Hamas television reporting that the last Israeli prisoners alive will be freed on Saturday. Prior to this announcement, Hamas had stated that it would deliver the bodies of four individuals retained in the Gaza Strip, which was also confirmed by Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Netanyahu noted that during indirect negotiations in Cairo, agreements were reached for the release of the six hostages as part of the first phase of the truce in Gaza, scheduled for Saturday. Furthermore, he confirmed that Israel will receive the bodies of the four deceased hostages on Thursday.
It’s worth noting that there was an initial mention of the bodies being delivered the following week, but according to the latest confirmation from Netanyahu, the delivery is set for Thursday. These developments are based on information from AFP.
