Ivo Grbic is before his opportunity to exhibit himself as Atlético’s goalkeeper. Oblak’s injury, the undisputed starter, has opened the door of eleven and the Croatian wants to take advantage of it. Match against Osasuna: “The first thing is that it is Children’s Day, so congratulate them. It’s a home game, we want to win, we want to fight. I want a clean sheet. We want to enjoy with our fans”.
Since you were little, did you want to be a goalkeeper? “I was very hyperactive and was always with the ball. My mother told me that I only had one option in life, to be a goalkeeper. I like this position. It’s tricky because you need a special character. Only one goalkeeper can play in the team but it’s something that when I’m in goal I don’t have any problems”.
What is it like to work with Oblak? “With him, as a friend and goalkeeper, and the goalkeeping coach, Pablo Vercellone, I have a fantastic relationship. It is super interesting to me. He is one of the best in the world but as a person he is super easy ”.
Who are your best friends in the locker room? “Stefan Savic and Jan Oblak. We have the same language and we speak. It is easier than in Spanish, but the whole team is united”.
His best memory at Atleti: “It’s super easy. The last game against Valladolid, when we won the League. Then the party with our fans at the Metropolitano. It was an incredible moment, the first title of my career, an incredible moment and for all my life”.
