Government transfers funds from the banana sector to the Agricultural Bank

The project "Banana Accompanying Measures for the Dominican Republic" (BAM) and its funds will be transferred from Banco Ademi to Banco Agrícola Dominicanothis project began in 2014 with funds from the European Union (EU) and own funds from the banking institution Ademi.

With an amount of RD$322,261,284.02 million, to be executed now by the Agricultural Bank, in coordination with the Ministries of Economy, Planning and Development, and Agriculture, the transfer will be complemented by other RD$34,389,937.06 to finish RD$356,651,221.08 total amount of the contribution.

The operational management of these credits, was in charge of Banco Ademi and now it will be granted to the Agricultural Bank of the Dominican Republic, it will have an initial period of five years, with the objective of capturing, analyzing and granting financing facilities oriented exclusively to the banana sector.

Under the management of Ademi, 250,000 thousand banana cultivation tasks were cultivated between the provinces Valverde Mao, Dajabón, Monte Cristi, Peravia and Azua. 1,240 loans were also made for farmers of the product.

These contributions allow micro and medium entrepreneurs to obtain individual loans for the development of their crops.

the dominican government receives about 300 million pesos by the European Union for purposes of banana production and agriculture.

"The Dominican organic banana has been cataloged as the best and the first to be exported to the European Union"expressed the European representative in the country, Katja Afheldt.

All members present at the table signed the transfer and posed next to a symbolic check.

The activity brought together Katja Afheldt, Limbert Cruz López, Pavel Isa Contreras, Fernando Durán and Guillermo Rondón.
