Shoaib Akhtar has now revealed through one of his statements that he had an opportunity to captain Pakistan cricket team but he did not accept it. He has played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs and just 15 T20 Internationals for the Pakistan cricket team. In Shoaib Akhtar’s published statement on Pakistan cricket, he said that I received the captaincy offer in the year 2002 but at that time I was not fully fit. If 5 games were played in a series, I would only be able to play in 3. If I had played every game, my career would have been over in just 1-2 years after that.

Shoaib Akhtar made many more disclosures in his statement. In which he said that when he had the full support of his fellow players, but at that time everything was not going well on the PCB. The management there was not working properly and they had no plan on how to handle the players.
