The Movistar runner beat Jonathan Lastra (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) in the sprint. “The circuit was fast, so there was excitement. It has been, perhaps, the tightest arrival of the year. Jonathan was doing very well and, in some moments of the race, Jon has been the one who has taken the initiative, “said Gorka with the Movistar jersey already stained with a victory, even in cyclocross.
Third was Ion Izagirre, who also wore his new jersey. He ran in yellow with the anagram of Cofidis. Last week, after winning the Euskadi championship in Aiara, it was not very clear whether to race in Ormaiztegui but, at the end of the day, it is the town of the two Izagirre and the place where their father, José Ramón, a specialist in this discipline, became popular. Great atmosphere with a sunny morning in the Guipuzcoan town that has had quite a crowd in the gutters cheering, basically, the Izagirre brothers. Both are natives of this town near Beasain and Zumárraga but now they reside in other towns. Gorka in Ziordia (Navarra) and his brother Ion in Salvatierra-Agurain (Álava). Their wives are from these localities and there they have formed families. As they are quite close, they usually train together and are sometimes accompanied by Lourdes Oyarbide, a native of Eguino. The Sports Director of the Euskaltel-Euskadi, Jorge Azanza, also lives in Ziordia, although he is a native of the nearby town of Alsasua.
