Li beats Tomova in the Valencia final

American Ann Lee defeated Bulgarian Victoria Tomova 6-3 and 6-3 to win the BBVA International Open of Valencia WTA 125 category, her second WTA title after winning in Tenerife in 2021. Lee’s efficiency on the serve and aggressive game proved too much for Tomova, who was unable to mount a significant challenge.

In both sets, Lee imposed her rhythm and punch, with her right-handed serve causing problems for Tomova. The American broke Tomova’s serve early in the first set and never looked back, dominating the Bulgarian player. Lee’s service skills were particularly effective, with her throwing high balls that Tomova struggled to return.

The second set followed a similar pattern, with Lee breaking Tomova’s serve early and maintaining her advantage throughout. Tomova was unable to find a way back into the match, and Lee confirmed her victory with her serve.

Li’s victory was aided by Tomova’s negativity on the court, which seemed to affect the Bulgarian player’s confidence and decision-making. Tomova was unable to capitalize on several lucky points and was ultimately outplayed by Lee.

In doubles action, Katarzyna Peter and Fanny Stoller defeated Renata Zarazua and Angelica Moratelli 6-1, 4-6 and 10/8 in the super tie break.
