Google Takes New Crypto Move, Blockchain Wallet Information Visible

For a long time, Google was one of the companies that didn’t want to have much to do with blockchain and cryptocurrencies. As the company behind the world’s largest search engine, it even seemed to ban crypto-related terms from many things related to Google. But now that is slowly changing; Google recently started showing wallet information directly from the search engine.

Googling blockchain addresses is now possible

The search giant has been open to some information from blockchains for some time. For example, the Ethereum explorer Etherscan has been linked to the search engine since the end of 2022. Since then, if you google a wallet address, you will see the corresponding ETH balance. But otherwise, support for such blockchains was delayed for a long time – until last week.

Last week, the wallet balance of Ethereum Name Service (ENS) addresses was added. This allows you to ENS domain Take a look and you will see the corresponding balance in Ether.

This now applies not only to Ethereum and Ethereum Name Service, but also to Bitcoin (BTC), Arbitrum (ARB), Avalanche (AVAX), Optimism (OP), Polygon (MATIC) and Fantom (FTM).

Of course, previously Google only allowed you to look up wallet addresses, but to see the results you were redirected to the source. Now the information is displayed directly in the search engine itself, using data from commonly used explorers.

Google is cautious about cryptocurrencies

Google has long been very cautious when it comes to crypto. For example, as a crypto company, you were not allowed to advertise through Google’s AdSense platform. This has only been allowed since the end of January. Google has the largest advertising platform in the world, which can open many doors for companies in the crypto sector.

The search giant isn’t the only one to see value in blockchain information. For example, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been able to read data from the Solana (SOL) blockchain for almost a year.
