Smartphones just got smarter. Google’s Gemini Live feature is now available to all Android and iOS users. This means you can share your camera and screen with others in real-time.
To use it, open the Gemini app on your phone and tap the Gemini Live icon. You’ll see new buttons to share your camera and screen. On Android, you can also start a Gemini overlay and tap “Share screen with Live”.
When you share your screen, you’ll need to confirm it at the system level. Then, navigate to a website or app you want to show others. You can tap the top left corner of your phone to stop the transmission, but keep the conversation going on Gemini Live.
How it works
The camera sharing feature adds a viewer to the full-screen interface. The streaming only works when the Gemini app is open and will stop if you exit or turn off the screen. A button lets you switch to the front camera.
Google announced this feature back in March, after first revealing it at I/O 2024. It was initially available on Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series, and later to Gemini Advanced subscribers. Now, it’s available to all users, including those on the free version.
What’s next
Google is working on letting Gemini Live use apps to perform actions. This includes creating a calendar event or finding location details. Google Calendar, Keep, Maps, and Tasks are the first supported apps. This feature will roll out in the coming weeks.
You can start using Gemini Live now by following these steps:
- Open the Gemini app on your mobile device
- Tap the Gemini Live icon
- Tap the camera or screen share icon and start talking about anything you see
As Google Gemini App tweeted: “The ability to share your camera & screen in Gemini Live is now available to all Gemini users on Android & iOS.”
