Gónzalez and Rosario produce in Cleveland win

Shane Bieber pitched seven dominant innings, Oscar Gonzalez drove in two runs and the Cleveland Guardians beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 Tuesday night for their third straight win.

Bieber (7-6) allowed just four singles and one walk and struck out eight. Amed Rosario had three hits, including two doubles, while scoring one run and driving in another.

Cleveland entered the night trailing Minnesota by one game in the AL Central.

Tyler Alexander (2-6) allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings for Detroit. The Tigers narrowly avoided being shut out for the second straight game, as Eric Haase walked with two outs and bases loaded against Eli Morgan in the ninth. They added another run on a wild pitch by Emmanuel Clase.

Class then recorded his 25th save by rolling Akil Baddoo.

Cleveland scored the first run of the game in the fifth. Owen Miller and Andrés Giménez hit back-to-back singles with one out. Miller came home on Austin Hedges’ sacrifice fly.

The Guardians made it 2-0 in the sixth on back-to-back doubles from Steven Kwan and Rosario.

Cleveland added three more runs in the eighth off reliever Will Vest. Gonzalez’s two-out double against the right-field wall drove in Kwan and Rosario. Josh Naylor knocked out González with a single.

For the Guardians, Oscar Gónzalez finished 2-4 with a single, a two-run double and a run scored. Ahmed Rosario went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. José Ramírez, went 4-1 with indisputable. Emmanuel Clase got one out and recorded his 25th save of the season. For the Tigres, Jeimer Candelario walked 0-2 and Wily Peralta pitched a scoreless inning.
