George and Charlotte allowed to attend Queen’s funeral

The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II takes place this Monday at Westminster Abbey in London (United Kingdom). 2,000 people were invited to the ceremony which began at noon. When the Queen’s coffin arrived, King Charles III, Princes William and Harry and their wives and children took part in the procession. Louis, 4 years old, was not present because he was considered too young.

Absent at burial

The presence of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who are the 2nd and 3rd in the order of succession to the British crown, was confirmed only a few hours before the ceremony.

On the other hand, the two children of 9 and 7 years old will not participate in the burial of their great-grandmother, details BFM TV. It is due to take place Monday at 8:30 p.m. (French time) at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The Queen will be buried alongside her father King George VI and her husband Prince Philip.

“Death is a part of life” for the Windsors

The presence of such young children as George and Charlotte could surprise especially for such an event. But, “you have to know that with the Windsors, it’s part of education. Death is part of life”, explained on RTL Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre, editorial director of Point of view.

She added: “Queen Elizabeth has been preparing for her funeral since the 1960s, and it is considered that these children will have to learn to understand death and to accept it. (…) It’s really something very symbolic because for the British it is also the future of the monarchy that is in motion. »
