Gasoline: a difference in quality between fuels from supermarkets and service stations?

Whether on the price of fuel or its quality, the French are not left out. And for good reason, many motorists wonder about the difference in quality between fuels from supermarkets and those from service stations. It is clear that no, there are not so many differences.

French drivers have all, at one time or another, had this debate with family, over a drink or with friends: petrol in supermarkets is of lower quality than petrol in stations. However, it is a received idea, a mental construction. Because motorists prefer to refuel in supermarkets for the simple reason that it allows them at the same time to do their shopping.

Of course, petroleum station fuel contains comfort additives that make it possible to travel more kilometers or even obtain better engine efficiency, but, initially, the fuel comes from the same petroleum refineries. The main difference lies in the storage of fuel at the station.

Also, the tanks that allow fuel storage in supermarkets are less controlled than those in gas stations. The latter are therefore less polluting, but cost more. It’s all a question of tank maintenance, much less the quality of the fuel.
