Garibaldy Bautista asume como nuevo presidente del COD

“We have a commitment to sports and Dominican society.” This is how the engineer Garibaldy Bautista expressed himself, when he took office this Monday as president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).

Together with Bautista, were the engineer José Manuel Ramos, first vice president; Luis Chanlatte, general secretary; Radhamés Tavarez, third vice president, and José Mera, treasurer.

After the handover meeting, the new COD executives held a meeting with the institution’s staff.

“To the federated friends that we are here to work together and that we are the executive of the 39 federations,” said Bautista, who told the employees that there will only be an administrative change.

The engineer Bautista reminded the COD staff that most of them know him, since he had been an executive of the Olympic body.

Meanwhile, Chanlatte stated that the new COD authorities bring stability, while urging the employers to continue working normally and with the same spirit of dedication in each of their departments.

“We found an Olympic Committee morally and financially bankrupt,” Chanlatte said.

Ramos, on the other hand, said that as COD employees they are committed to continue promoting athletes.

The president of the COD as well as the general secretary agreed that the doors of their respective offices will be open for members, athletes and employees.

The engineer Bautista and the other members of the executive were elected in the COD elections held last Thursday in the Juan Ulises García Saleta room of the Olympic organization.
