The Gala (GALA) ecosystem is made up of Gala games, Gala Music and Gala Films. Gala Games is perhaps the most famous of the three and is a blockchain platform that runs on Ethereum (ETH) on which developers can create blockchain games. The film arm of the Gala ecosystem, Gala Films, is currently working on a Western anime series called ‘Ghosts of Ruin’which tries to bring the blockchain and the film world together using non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Series with NFTs, that’s how it works
Ghost of Ruin follows a group of gamers as they navigate a potentially deadly tournament in a near-future dystopian version of San Francisco, where games sync directly into players’ minds and are indistinguishable from real life.
On May 9, the Gala Films Twitter account announced that actors Rosario Dawson and Tony Revolori both have a role in Ghost of Ruin.
Dawson is an American actress who most recently took on the role of Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano in several Disney+ series. Revolori played the lead role in the 2014 Wes Anderson movie ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ and latest Spider-Man.
The pilotepisode of Ghost of Ruin will debut on Gala’s platform in August, but will initially only be made accessible to holders of special NFTs sold to fund the production of the show.
Set up in four levels, the NFTs provide different levels of immersive entry into the series. Thus, the very first level, ‘the Coder’, access to the show, related exclusive content and other digital collectibles for $250 in GALA Tokens. The highest level, ‘The Board Member’, allows owners to be involved in the production of the show as a character or contributor. A total of 45 of these NFTs were released and all sold for $2,500 worth of GALA tokens.
After the debut of the pilot, the producers hope to continue the series as one proof of concept sell it to a major streaming service.
Gala (v2) airdrop
Earlier this week you could also read in the altcoin news that Gala Games will be launching an improved version of their native token GALA. Through one airdrop GALA holders will receive the same amount of Gala (v2) Tokens. The Dutch crypto exchange Bitvavo also supports this process, so that users of the platform do not have to take any action.
