A neighbor of the Spanish city of Granada (south) denounced before the Justice that an individual who posed as the American actor Brad Pitt defrauded her at least €170,000 ($186,000) with promises of love that turned out to be false.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Antonio Estella Aroza, informed EFE today that the middle-aged woman, who has asked that her identity not be disclosed, contacted at the beginning of last year with a kind of fan club of the artist through the social network Facebook.

From then on, she exchanged messages with other supposed users that would eventually lead her to directly contact whom she believed to be Brad Pitt himself.

In this way, the lawyer recounted, the woman engaged in conversations with the alleged scammer, that he managed to win their trust, their friendship and even their love, and establish a relationship “analogous” to that of a couple.

The fake Brad Pitt even promised to come to Spain and record a movie together, which he took advantage of to ask her for different amounts of money, which she sent him by bank transfer, to meet the expenses derived from these plans.

In this period, the scammer sent the woman photos of him at red carpets and movie premieres, and even some photomontage with messages addressed directly to her.

“Honey, I really love you and I promise to pay you back well. Honey, I still love you and I’m still here for you,” read one of those handwritten messages in a tax photomontage on a photograph of the Hollywood actor.

Suspecting that you might be the victim of a scam, since the promises of the supposed actor did not finish materializingthe woman decided to resort to Justice.

Estella Aroza explained that the amount defrauded could exceed 170,000 euros (186,000 dollars), for which she filed a legal complaint – still pending processing – for possible crimes of fraud, identity theft and even money laundering.
