Freddie Freeman, Will Smith and Cody Bellinger homered, and the Los Angeles Dodgers capitalized on problems and an injury to German Marquez to beat the Colorado Rockies 8-4 on Wednesday night.

Trea Turner added a two-run double and Julio Urías worked into the sixth inning to help the Dodgers avoid a three-game series sweep by their unexpected nemesis. The Rockies were 4-1 against the NL West leaders.

Marquez (4-6) left the game with an apparent injury to his throwing hand with one out in the fourth inning after giving up five runs on five hits, including Freeman’s 466-foot drive to center field that extended to 13 his streak of games with at least one hit.

Smith hit his 12th homer of the season, a two-run shot off Jhoulys Chacín in the fifth inning, to make it 7-1. Bellinger hit 10 home runs with his shot to right field in the eighth inning.

Urias (6-6) was solid through the first five innings before getting into trouble. He left the game with one out in the sixth, and finished with three runs on six hits, one walk and five strikeouts. It is the first time in five starts that the Mexican has conceded more than two earned runs.

For the Rockies, Cuban José Iglesias 4-1. Venezuelans Yonathan Daza 3-0 with a run scored; Elijah Diaz 4-0.
