Today the draw for the women’s European Cup was held in Vienna, with three Spanish teams in the hype among the eight that remain in the competition, and of which the outcome is already known until the final, because the quarterfinals have been decided, and the possible pairings in the semifinals.
In the quarterfinals there will be a Spanish duel, because Elche and Motive Gijón La Calzada face each other. At this point in the competition, there are no limitations on the draw, so there was no protection to avoid duels between teams from the same country. The positive part is that a Spanish team will be in the semifinal, although these fratricidal duels do not end there: Mecalia Guardés could be the rival of the Spanish winner in the semifinals.
Atlético Guardés will face Portuguese Madeira in the quarterfinals, the first leg (February 11) on the island and the return leg on the 18th on the Galician stadium. In the Spanish duel, the first leg will be in Elche and the return in Gijón, where both teams have met in the League, with Elche winning by a minimum.
