Formula 1 will also be broadcast almost entirely by Sky in the 2024 season. However, Sky and RTL have surprisingly entered into a partnership this season, giving RTL seven live races. The races shown on RTL are broadcast live by RTL+.
This means that all official F1 broadcasts in Germany this season, with the exception of the seven races that RTL also shows, can be seen on Sky. But there is a trick you can use to avoid a paid Sky subscription. If you use a VPN, you can essentially enjoy Formula 1 for free.

Our neighbors Austria (ORF, ServusTV) and Switzerland (SRF) show Formula 1 on free TV. Unfortunately, due to a country block, we cannot easily view these broadcasts, for example via live streams. With a VPN you can easily bypass this country block and save yourself the high costs for the pay TV channel Sky.
With VPN you can watch Formula 1 for free – completely legally
With a VPN you can watch Formula 1 legally and almost for free. So not about flimsy streams from a gray area of the Internet. Nevertheless, you pay significantly less than with expensive pay TV channels and also enjoy other advantages of a VPN. For worry-free transmission, we recommend the following VPN providers for streaming:
NordVPN from 3.39 euros/month
Other advantages of a VPN
With the VPN from NordVPN you can expect a few more advantages: You benefit from dedicated streaming servers, over 6000 servers in around 60 countries and unlimited bandwidth. Furthermore, no logging data of your activities is stored. You have access to 24/7 live support and you can use the VPN on up to 6 devices at the same time.
Apple and Android smartphones, Windows, MacOS, Linux, browsers such as Chrome and Firefox, but also Android TV, Apple TV and Amazon’s FireTV are supported. The VPN from Nord VPN is available from just 3.39 euros per month (the prices are stated net; VAT of 19 percent is added).
For comparison: Sky Deutschland offers Formula 1 with a sports subscription from 20 euros per month (annual subscription) or with the WOW Live Sports subscription from 24.99 euros per month as an annual subscription or for 35.99 euros as a monthly subscription.
Formula 1: 2024 racing calendar
The 2024 Formula 1 season consists of 24 races. A race weekend usually consists of three training sessions, qualification and the final race, or six GPs of training sessions, sprint shootout, qualification and the race.
Note: RTL is broadcasting seven races on free TV this season, which you can also watch streamed on RTL+. Otherwise, you will have to use the VPN option or the pay TV channel Sky for training sessions, qualifications and races. You can watch the races conveniently via VPN on the Swiss channel SRF as well as the Austrian channels ServusTV and ORF (not Servus TV Germany!), which share the races among themselves.
In the following table we have listed all the Grand Prix and which channels broadcast the races. The start times of the races are always given in Central European Summer Time (CEST).
