Ex tenista Chris Evert revela que tiene cáncer ovárico

Retired tennis player Chris Evert announced that she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a very early stage.

Evert, 67, revealed the diagnosis Friday in a story posted on ESPN.com. The American is a commentator for the network.

According to the text, Evert received the diagnosis last month, and began chemotherapy treatments this week.

“I have lived a lovely life. Now, I face some challenges,” Evert said. “But I feel comfortable knowing that chemotherapy is to make sure the cancer doesn’t come back.”

Evert won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, rose to the top of the WTA rankings and was inducted into the international Hall of Fame in 1995.

Her sister, Jeanne Evert Dubin, passed away from ovarian cancer in February 2020, aged 62.

“Be your own advocates, know your family background. Be fully aware of your body, follow your intuition and watch for any changes,” Evert said in the note. “Don’t try to wage a crusade thinking this will pass.”
