Marcelo Jorge Longhi, president of the Municipality Club of the City of Vicente López (ViLo) and employee of that municipality in the north of the Conurbano, was found dead in a truck stopped on the shoulder of a road near the Buenos Aires party of Luján. The body had blows to the face and a stab wound to the back of the neck. According to judicial sources reported to different media, the preliminary autopsy report showed a fatal neck injury, the product of a blow: they are now investigating the motive for the murder.
The body was found on Wednesday in the box of a gray Ford Ranger, among some grasslands, about 15 meters from the asphalt strip of Provincial Route 47, at the access to the rural town of La Choza. The complaint to the Police was made by the residents of the area when they saw the abandoned truck and the prosecutor Mariana Suárez, from the decentralized Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 9 of Luján, took part in the investigation, which classified the case as homicide.
What is the hypothesis of Marcelo Longhi’s crime?
Initially, the investigators determined that inside the truck there were several cans of beer, the victim’s cell phone and an unspecified sum of money. Meanwhile, in the vicinity of the Arroyo La Choza bridge, one kilometer from where the truck was found, more empty beer cans of the same brand as those found inside the vehicle were found. Between the truck and the bank of the creek, traces of drag were found.
Investigators believe that the man may have been the victim of an attack at that site and his body dragged to the bed of the truck, which was then moved a kilometer to the location of the discovery.
Osvaldo, Longhi’s brother, indicated that he leased a field called “Los Amigos” in the neighboring town of Tomas Jofre, in the Las Heras district. And he offered another clue about the possible robbery: he reported that his brother leased that field with the owner of a private security company, and yesterday he had planned to go buy two steers in the Navarro area, for which he had 180,000 pesos.
Longhi’s Farewell
Longhi’s death caused great commotion in the social and sports environment of Vicente López. Dozens of messages of greetings and support for the family were published on social networks.
“Today is a very sad day for the club. We regret the departure of our president and dear friend. Thank you Marcelo for so many years accompanying us as a player, and as president, for all the memories lived, for all the things you did for the club, your second home”, they expressed from the Vilo Rugby Instagram account.
In turn, the Villa Pearson Social and Sports Club published a message on its Facebook wall in which it lamented: “We know about his career and work for the community and the sport of Vicente López.” While Las Cañas Rugby Club expressed its “condolences” and sent “a lot of strength to his family, his friends and the great family of Vicente López”.
On the other hand, the Vilo club suspended all rugby activities and the headquarters will remain open only to watch over the remains of its president tomorrow between 6 and 11 p.m., and on Saturday from 6 to 8 a.m.
