Former labor minister questions resolution that increases doctor fees and does not contemplate benefits for affiliates

The former labor minister, Winston Santoscondemned that the resolution issued by the National Social Security Council (CNSS), where the fees for doctors are increased, does not contemplate any benefits for affiliates.

Resolution No. 562-01, issued on January 26 of this year, provides for the increase per capita per affiliate to the contributory regime of 65 pesosconstituting an investment of more than 3 billion pesos per year.

“This increase does not give members an aspirin to the Dominican Social Security System,” Santos said in a note sent to the media, referring to the lack of benefits for the insured.

The former minister said that the insured were left waiting for the incorporation of new medical procedures and increases in health coverage.

In October 2022, the contributory regime reported a registration of affiliates of 4,594,659 people between workers and their direct and additional dependents, according to data published by the Social Security Treasury.

Despite the inflationary process that has triggered prices, the coverage for dispensing or dispatching medicines through the pharmacy remains the same, 8 thousand pesos per year.

Santos recalled that the only compensation that doctors received through outpatient consultations, from 300 to 500 pesos, was taken in the past government led by the Dominican Liberation Party.
