Former Iranian president’s daughter arrested for inciting protesters

Faiza Hashmi, the daughter of former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, was arrested on charges of inciting the protesters.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Faiza Hashmi was arrested by a security agency on charges of inciting riots in eastern Tehran, but did not say how she was inciting the riots.

Faiza Hashmi is the daughter of the co-founder of the Islamic Republic and two-time president Ali Akbar Hashmi Rafsanjani, who died in 2017.

Faiza Hashmi has been arrested before in 2009 for opposing government policies.

It should be noted that since Mehsa Amini’s death in police custody two weeks ago, violent protests have continued in Tehran and other major Iranian cities.

Oslo-based Iran Human Rights has confirmed that 76 people, including civilians and police officers, have been killed in the protests, while hundreds have been arrested.
