Foreign media broadcasts banned

Afghanistan’s Taliban government has banned BBC, Voice of America and DW broadcasts in the country.

Britain’s national broadcaster says the Afghan Taliban government has ordered the BBC’s news bulletin not to be aired. The BBC announced on March 27 that this was a worrying development for the people of Afghanistan in a time of turmoil.

The BBC World Service states that while more than 6 million Afghans use the BBC’s independent and impartial journalism, they should not be denied access.

On the other hand, the German news agency, quoting local media, claimed that the Taliban had also asked Voice of America to stop broadcasting for the time being.

Abdul Haq Hammad, a spokesman for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Cultural Affairs, also confirmed the report, according to the report.

In addition to the BBC and Voice of America, the Taliban has also banned the broadcasting of the German broadcaster DW.

A statement issued by Peter Lamburg, director general of the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, on Monday, March 28, said that the growing restrictions on freedom of the press and freedom of expression in Afghanistan were alarming.

Inamullah Samangani, the Taliban’s deputy spokesman, said the Taliban had no control over the content broadcast on TV by the international media.

Inamullah Samangani further said that sometimes content is broadcast by foreign media which is against the religious and cultural beliefs and national interests of Afghanistan therefore foreign media programs should be aired on TV channels. Has been closed.
