In 2024, there will be 2,781 people in the world with more than $1 billion, the magazine said Forbes in its latest edition, in which it published its now traditional annual list of billionaires around the world.
“There are more billionaires than ever before,” said the medium when presenting its well-known ranking.
There are “141 more billionaires than last year and 26 more than in the record year of 2021,” the publication said, adding that “billionaires are richer than ever.”
The United States is the country with the largest number of billionaires, with 813 people worth more than $1 billion, followed by China with 473 and India with 200 people.
The ranking is led by Bernard Arnault, who controls the LVMH empire with 75 brands in the fashion and cosmetics industry, including Louis Vuitton and Sephora. At 75, the Frenchman has a net worth of $233 billion.
The second richest man in the world is Elon Musk, who co-founded six companies with $195 billion, including the automobile company Tesla and the aerospace company SpaceX, and bought the social network Twitter. Third place in the global ranking goes to Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
Mark Zuckerberg, owner of Meta, which combines the social networks Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram, came in fourth place.
There are two on the list UruguayanSergio Fogel (rank 2,647) and Andrés Bzurovski Bay (2,670), founders of the fintech dLocal, with an estimated fortune of $1.1 billion.
