Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are of course not just for digital artworks, you can make NFTs of anything. Game developers now seem to understand that too. Epic Games, known for the immensely popular Fortnite, will be first game to offer NFTs.

The game in question is GRIT, a Wild West shooter from Gala games† Gala is one of the most important companies in the gaming industry using cryptocurrencies, blockchains and NFTs. GRIT is a shooting game with a Wild West setting. It is of the popular Battle Royale type, where the goal is to be the only one left.
In a press release Gala Games writes that GRIT is the first ‘Web3 game’ to be launched in the Epic Games Store will be available. Windows (minimum Windows 7) is currently the only supported operating system. You also need at least 8 GB of RAM, in addition to an Intel Core i5-4430 as CPU and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 video card or an AMD Radeon R7 370. The game is about 30 GB in size.
It is recommended that you use an Intel Core i7 8700 or an AMD Ryzen 7 2700 CPU, in addition to 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT.
NFTs: the future of gaming
By making blockchain part of the game you can own parts of the game, such as loot, characters and maybe even more than that. characters in GRIT are ERC-721 NFTs, meaning they are backed by Ethereum (ETH) and you can sell them – for real money.
Gala will be selling 10,000 character NFTs over the next few days. Today each loot box costs USD 600, but the prices are going up. More details can be found below and in the Gala Games press release. To prevent scalpers from buying all loot boxes at once, sales are limited to two pieces per account. That way everyone gets a chance.
