First Hijab Muslim Woman Judge Appointed in America

For the first time, a female Muslim judge with hijab was appointed to the Supreme Court of the state of New Jersey.

According to foreign media reports, a woman named Nadia Kahf was nominated as a judge by the governor of New Jersey. Nadia Kahf took the oath of office with her hands on the Holy Quran which she had inherited from her grandmother.

The 50-year-old female judge, who moved to the United States from Syria at the age of two, will now serve in Passaic County.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations congratulates Nadia Kahf on becoming a New Jersey Supreme Court Justice.

Nadia Kahf said in her response that ‘I am extremely happy as well as proud.’
