Another Spaniard in the Ferrari orbit. With Carlos Sainz at the top of Formula 1 and Miguel Molina in the Endurance World Championship with his 24 Hours of Le Mans, now it’s his turn the turn to Fernando Navarrete, who will defend the colors of the ‘prancing horse’ in the European GT. He will do it together with the Italian Stefano Bozzoni within the official German team, Mertel Motorsport.
Navarrete, seven times Spanish champion and European GT4 runner-up, will race in the GT Open Europe behind the wheel of a Ferrari 488 Evo. A ‘fiera’ with a twin-turbo V8 engine and 670 horsepower. And it will do so with Mertel, which is the second dealer with the most sales in Europe after Monte Carlo, a real guarantee when it comes to receive the best material from Maranello.
The first contact will take place at the Circuit of Barcelona in the winter tests on March 15 and 16, to as of April 30 compete in the five calendar appointments in Portimao, Spa-Francorchams, Paul Ricard, Monza and again in the final that returns to Catalonia.
“It is a dream come true”Navarrete confesses happily. “Any driver wants to race with Ferrari, and the fact that they have chosen us to driving this unit is a privilege. Above all, because the objective is to arrive in the not too distant future at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, another dream”.
