FEDOM announces agenda of the Dominican team heading to the World Baseball Classic

A few days before the play ball song in the fifth edition of the World Baseball Classic, the Dominican Republic team is ready to begin its training phase scheduled to start on Tuesday, March 7 in the state of Florida, United States.

“Everything is ready to take this great nation to the championship and give the second crown to the Dominican Republic,” said Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM).

Núñez Nepomuceno stressed that the objectives and plans of the Federation are being fulfilled to the letter and that he hopes that the Dominican talent can lead his squad once again to the promised land.

“We are just waiting to arrive next Monday in Fort Myers, where we will all meet to start the final stage towards the championship,” said Núñez Nepomuceno, who is a member of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Development Commission.

The ninth tricolor will carry out their practices at the Minnesota Twins training complex, located in the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Florida.

The first training is scheduled for 2:30 pm and will be open to the media.

The Dominican squad will play a friendly on March 8 against the Atlanta Braves, in North Port, Florida, at 1:05 in the afternoon.

For Thursday the ninth of this month, the tricolor team has a meeting with the Minnesota Twins scheduled at 1:05 in the afternoon, at the Lee County Sports Complex, Fort Myers, which has been the home of the Twins during the spring since the year 1991.

The Dominican team, which will be part of group D, will practice for the first time at the tournament venue, LoanDepot Park, on March 10 and will have its first match on Saturday, March 11 against the Venezuelan team.

The Dominican Republic remains the only team that has won the tournament undefeated (2013), while looking to tie with Japan as the two nations with the most tournaments won. The Japanese were crowned in the 2006 and 2009 editions, while the Dominicans won the cup in 2013 and the United States in 2017.
