Fábregas Lands Belotti for Como Serie A Debut

Fábregas already has a 'killer' to debut in Serie A: Como signs Belotti

Como 1907 Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Andrea Belotti, a forward who was part of Italy’s Euro 2020 championship-winning team, to join the team on July 1, 2024. Belotti has signed a two-year contract and arrives from Fiorentina, where he was on loan from Roma.

Belotti, who was once a highly sought-after player after scoring 113 goals in 251 games for Torino, was never sold to a big club as Roma president Urbano Cairo insisted that any interested team would have to pay 100 million euros. Instead, Belotti signed with Roma in the summer of 2022 for free, after his contract with Torino ended.

At Roma, Belotti played under José Mourinho, who had previously expressed interest in signing him for Manchester United. However, Belotti only managed to score 10 goals in 67 games under Mourinho before being loaned to Fiorentina in January.

Belotti, now 30, has been signed by Como to lead the attack and hopes to recover his best form. He was impressed by the club’s project and coaching staff, saying that the coach shared his ideas about football and approach to each game, which was crucial in his decision to join.

Como coach Cesc Fábregas is also excited about the signing, stating that Belotti’s experience in the league will be crucial and that he has the ability to be a formidable goalscorer. Belotti will have to compete with Cutrone for a starting spot, but is determined to make an impact at his new club.
