Exporters describe the presidential speech as positive

The president of the Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo), Elizabeth Menacongratulated President Luis Abinader for the good economic management that the current government has given in difficult times, caused by the world crisis.

The business leader recalled that “We must continue working to turn the Nation into a great exporter and continue promoting industry, agriculture and mining that are important for this activity, while we continue to consolidate in the free zone sector and in the development of infrastructure.

Commenting on President Abinader’s accountability speech, Mena added that “as citizens we must all together strengthen the peace and stability of the country to continue with the increase in foreign investment.”

The president of Adoexpo valued President Luis Abinader’s accountability speech as positive, and reiterated the performance of this sector in the period 1990-2021, with an average growth of 7.5%, ranking among the 20 largest countries in the world and the industry in Latin America.

He considered that “we must continue working together with the government and the private sector to continue strengthening this productive activity that contributes close to one million direct and indirect jobs to the country’s labor market.

noted that thanks to this synergy, this sector was placed in a study carried out by the firm Apricus Consulting Group in the sixth position of regional leadership the Dominican Republic, only surpassed by Mexico, with 10.8%; Paraguay, with 10.5%; Brazil, with 9.6%; Ecuador, with 9.5%; Costa Rica, with 9.1%.

He added that the aforementioned investigation reveals that between 1990 and 2021 there was a marked diversification of both the export basket and the destinations of Creole products and services.

He said that there is still a lot of export potential to be taken advantage of, since various estimates show that the country could export 50% morefor which the National Export Promotion Plan was launched, which contemplates tripling the volumes between 2020 and 2030, achieving these goals would help greater economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction.
